Bhubaneswar : After the misbehaviour and high handedness of a coach in the Gymnastic high-performance centre at Kalinga Stadium. Now this time similar allegations levelled by the Sports Hostel swimming inmates as the coaches misbehaved and beat them at the Swimming high performance Centre at Kalinga Stadium here.
In protest of the misbehaviour of the coaches, more than 50 swimmers of the Bhubaneswar Sports Hostel avoided the training season. In this context they also put an official complaint through a letter to the Sports and Youth Services Department Director to intervene in this matter.
The swimmers alleged that coach Sumit and coach Sandeep used to abuse us regularly during the training season and also beat us. They also threaten that if anyone complains about this matter to the department authorities, first of all nothing will happen to us, on the other hand we will sabotage your career.
“We received the player;s allegation letters in our office. We will make an official inquiry soon, if anyone is found guilty, an appropriate action will be taken” said the Sports and Youth Services Director Dipankar Mohapatra.
If the allegation is true the Government should not take it lightly. Many young girl’s swimmers are staying in the Sports Hostel, the coaches might have forgotten minimum etiquette and manners of how to talk to them. Verbal abusing girl swimmers in front of other athletes is a serious offence. The department should take this matter under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) charges, said a swimmer’s parents.
